Wind turbines are selling well, biogas plants are no longer selling well (Germany)

2/2/2013

The local wind turbine manufactures are overwhelmed with orders. Their colleagues from solar and biogas fall into deeper crisis. Last year more than 1000 new wind turbines were installed in this country. In total these wind turbines can theoretically generate 2439 megawatts of electricity under the  best wind conditions. This energy perfomance corresponds to the capacity of two big nuclear or coal-fired power plants. Altogether their installed capacity is more than 31000 megawatt. This can already cover Germany’s entire energy needs on some days. According to a report commissioned by the German Wind Energy Association, in the last year around 20 percent more energy was fed into the grid than the year before, the German Wind Energy Association pointed out on Wednesday in Berlin.
